There has been a major shift in thinking as today's mining industry is under increasing pressure to show greater social and environmental responsibility. Social responsibility is a fundamental issue in Bolivia as Bolivia is South America's poorest country, with about 60 percent of the population living in poverty.

New World is devoted to sustainable development of the local community and to improve standards of living. For over five years, New World has engaged in an extensive community relations program that employs a full-time community relations personnel and maintains ongoing communication with the surrounding local communities. This program has provided employment, maintained and constructed infrastructure and provided school and medical supplies to help support the development of the local community towards a sustainable future.

New World strives to build upon its community relations and is currently in the process of building a local road for the Sud de Lipez community. This road will not only provide access to the surrounding areas but also facilitate trade and commerce between the local Bolivian communities.

The town of San Pablo de Lipez is located 25 kilometres west of New World's Lipeña/Bonete copper-gold project. New World's relationship with this small town of approximately 230 inhabitants is paramount for the development of a sustainable future.
